Overview

Our Game will be an extension of the old 90’s JRPGs, incorporating features from many titles of the time, in 3D. A compelling Shinto-themed story-line mixed with scifi themes and a familiar battle mechanic. It would hold true to a lot of the same fans of old RPGs of the time.

Description

Our project will entail Dialog and Story, Battle mechanics, and Puzzles. Explore a vast world underground as you protect the shrine and level up your character and your skills. Encounter unique characters, and complete quests along with a main story-line where you chase a moth bringing chaos and havoc to the people and creatures that inhabit the shrine. Beautiful and unique environments with a Shinto-inspired “Holographic”, “Psychedelic” motif as well as a contrasting dark and evil atmosphere in different regions of the game. Uncover the true beauty of the realm by repairing and protecting the environment along your Adventure.

Core Gameplay Mechanics

Quests

Players will embark on quests to find items and other characters, or clear different areas of monsters. Upon completing quests, different areas will become accessible and new skills will be acquired

Battles

Battles will take place in which you are teleported to a battlefield with monsters, matching the look of the area you are exploring. While exploring the main areas, there will be a version of the monsters scurring about and flashing, some moving faster or slower. You can avoid some but others are inevitable. Running into these flashing monsters triggers a battle. Turn based battles will then occur and you can use skills to leverage different elements and strengths and weaknesses; Based off of Pokemon.

Exploration

When entering new areas of the game, they will be infested with monsters. Upon clearing a room or area of monsters, an animated holographic texture will overlay the area and the lighting will change, music will become less tense and more atmospheric(DSP effects will be added). This is the process of purifying different areas of the shrine.

Story and Gameplay

Story

You are Chouko, the inheritor of the duty and ownership of an old Shinto shrine. You must purify and restore beauty to characters and areas that are overrun with monsters due to a giant moth using dark magic and disrupting the continuity of purity in different places. You start off in a village near a Shinto-inspired Shrine and are entrusted with the duty of protecting the grounds, which hold a clock/computer and goes deep underground. You must find and fight a moth responsible for wrecking and bringing chaos into the many different chambers around the shrine grounds. Finding and purifying many different characters that have been transformed into monsters and beasts leads you around the grounds and gives you riddles and clues that help you find and restore different parts (both mechanical and energetic) to the shrine and surrounding areas. Bring peace and prosperity back to the land by fighting monsters, going on scavenger hunts, and interacting with characters to solve riddles and explore the Shrine grounds.
